ITE AD IOSEPH

The month of March is traditionally dedicated to St. Joseph.

Why?
Pope Francis* mentioned that after Mary, the Mother of God, no saint is mentioned more frequently in the papal magisterium than Joseph, her spouse.

From this sentence, we can see his utmost significance in the Church. He is the Universal Patron of the Church.

He can teach us many things! How to:
1. Be a tender and loving father
2. Be obedient to the Holy Spirit
3. Accept the will of God with humility
4. Be courageous
5. Be a creative steward of our resources
6. Find meaning in our work, and cooperate with God
7. Safely allow our children to be free

Let's implore his intercession and ask him to be our role model! His many virtues, his zeal for God, his life examples... There's so much we can learn from this quiet and humble saint!

ITE AD IOSEPH (Latin: Go to Joseph)

This phrase came from the Old Testament. In Genesis, we hear of Joseph, who was the beloved son of Jacob and Rachel. Joseph's brothers were jealous of him and sold him to be a slave in Egypt. (Genesis 37)

Joseph correctly predicted a very severe famine and the Pharaoh found him to be a wise and discerning man. He made his people obey Joseph and made him in charge of the whole land.

Before the famine set in, Joseph collected food in abundance. The Pharaoh said: "Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells us." as he directed hungry people to his trusted son-in-law and right hand man. (Genesis 41)

The New Testament Joseph, the guardian of our Redeemer, does the same for us. Whenever we are hungry or thirsty, St Joseph will bring us to Jesus, the Bread of Life.
