28 Jan: Feast Day of Saint Thomas Aquinas

St. Thomas Aquinas is a Doctor of the Church (a title given by the Catholic Church to saints who have made a significant contribution to theology). A famous quote that he had was:

"Three things are necessary for the salvation of man:
to know what he ought to believe;
to know what he ought to desire;
and to know what he ought to do."

It says a lot about the importance of our formation, discernment, and fulfilling His will for us.

 The understanding of our faith will never be complete during our lifetime. Even an advanced theologian like St. Thomas Aquinas only attained a minute percentage of the wisdom of God.

How to improve your understanding of your Catholic faith:
Devote 30 minutes a day (perhaps during your transport time) to listening to these podcasts

Start by thinking of something that you're willing to do - without being incentivised.

What makes your heart sing?
What makes you feel content?
What brings you peace and joy?

How to discern God's will?
Speak to a spiritual director.
Look for the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

After receiving some faith formation and guidance, you'll need to act on it!
Follow where the Spirit is leading you. At this stage, don't give up at the first sign of struggle.

It's not going to be easy, but God will strengthen and nourish you in this life-giving mission.

How to find spiritual nourishment?
Pray frequently alone and in groups.
Look inward and reflect in both good and bad times.
Find someone that you can share openly without any judgement.
Always ask for the grace of humility.

St. Joseph was someone who managed to do all the above. Hug this Chaste Heart of Joseph plushie and ask for his intercession.
